Vinod Kambli's Health Update - A Glimpse Into His Ongoing Recovery
Ex-cricketer Vinod Kambli gives an update on his health, describing the recovery process after his recent medical issues. Fans and well-wishers are eager to see him continue improving.

Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has been hospitalised after a spate of health issues that had him worried. On Saturday, he was admitted to Aakriti Hospital in Thane due to complaints of muscle cramps and dizziness at home. Kambli, who has now turned 52, is facing a lot of challenges and his latest health update has left many of his fans and well-wishers worried. As per his treating physician, Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, Kambli's brain condition remains unstable, though he is currently receiving treatment and physiotherapy to aid in his recovery.
Dr. Dwivedi, speaking to ANI, provided further details about Kambli's condition. The hospitalization followed when the cricketer had high-grade fever, muscle cramps, and dizziness, which also impacted his walking ability. After proper investigation, doctors diagnosed that Kambli had a urinary tract infection along with significant sodium and potassium deficiencies, which must have triggered the cramps. Moreover, a brain scan revealed the presence of old clots, possibly indicating a recent stroke. This was a critical finding that led to the admission of Kambli to the ICU for close monitoring with low blood pressure.
Despite these serious health concerns, Dr. Dwivedi allayed the public's fears saying that Kambli's condition was stable and on the path to recovery. The doctor said that he would be discharged in 2 to 3 days but clarified that his brain condition remained a cause of concern since there were changes in degeneration seen on the scans. Kambli's rehabilitation and physiotherapy continue to remain at the top of his recovery list.
On the positive side, Kambli has thanked everyone for such great support during these hard times. In a statement to ANI, he said that he was doing much better and thanked childhood friend and cricket icon, Sachin Tendulkar, for the blessings. Kambli further said that Tendulkar's blessings have also given him strength while fighting his illness.
In December, before being hospitalized, Kambli had met Tendulkar to inaugurate a memorial for the late coach, Ramakant Achrekar, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. During the meeting, Kambli looked visibly weak, and questions on his physical and mental condition started to arise. He even got emotional and reflected about his cricketing days; he said, "I will never leave cricket as I remember the hundreds of centuries and double hundreds, which I have struck throughout my career." Another key point he spoke on how there is a great amount of left-hand batting family tradition as three have done so.
The bond between Tendulkar and Kambli goes back many years as both were mentored by the legendary Ramakant Achrekar and studied at Shardashram Vidyamandir School. Their friendship and shared cricketing experiences have always been special. One of the most memorable moments in their careers came in 1988 when they shared a historic 664-run partnership for Shardashram Vidyamandir in a school match against St. Xavier's. Kambli's contribution to Indian cricket is of note, especially in ODI where he has run 2,477 and in 17 Test matches, he scored 1,084 runs.
In the meantime, Vinod Kambli is said to be getting better with time, but the hope of his fast recovery can only be wished by all his fans and the cricketing fraternity as a whole. His health condition, particularly the complications related to his brain, remains a critical concern, but his resilience and the ongoing medical care provide optimism for the future. With the support of his loved ones, especially Sachin Tendulkar’s encouraging words, Kambli’s road to recovery is filled with hope, and his strength and courage serve as an inspiration to many.
