DafaNews Bengaluru Open 2025-Tristan Schoolkate and Vit Kopriva Headline Strong Lineup

One of the biggest tennis events eagerly awaited, DafaNews Bengaluru Open 2025 will host class players of tennis when it marks a decade since it first started operations in 2015. The country's best-level international tournament, the DafaNews Bengaluru Open, has risen to ATP Challenger 125 level as it further consolidates its global brand on the international tennis calendar. With nine players in the top 200 playing, the tournament features edge-of-the-seat tennis action that will leave the spectators riveted to their seats between February 24 and March 2 at the KSLTA Courts within the historic Cubbon Park of Bengaluru. A Star-Studded Lineup Promises Fierce Competition

Leading the pace at this week's event is World No. 128 Czech Republic's Vit Kopriva. Kopriva has been playing well, winning the Bangkok Open at the start of the season, and is one of the favourites for the Bengaluru title.

In the solid draw with him is World No. 135 Australian Tristan Schoolkate. These two would be put to test by other competitors in the top-200 rankings like Denmark's World No. 152 Elmer Moller, France's World No. 159 Ugo Blanchet, and Canada's World No. 177 Alexis Galarneau, who are all geared up to make their presence felt at the tournament. Charring the competition as well is also the presence of former top-20 player Bernard Tomic. The Australian, who had a career-best World No. 17 ranking in 2016, will provide experience and finesse to the tournament with hopes of reviving his career with a solid performance in Bengaluru.

Tournament Structure and Format

Bengaluru Open, which is entering its ninth year, will feature a 32-singles main draw. The competition format of the tournament includes 20 direct entries, six qualifiers, two special exemptions, one Next Gen Accelerator, and three wild-card positions. With a cut-off rating of World No. 237, the competition features top-class standards of fixtures throughout the week, which creates good interest in the sport among tennis players and fans as well.

Apart from the intense singles head-to-head duel, the players will contend against each other for a substantially rewarding prize fund of $200,000. The singles title holder shall receive 125 ATP ranking points, while the runner-up and semi-finalists shall receive 64 and 35 points. These precious points make the Bengaluru Open a battle worth watching on the ATP Challenger Tour, as the players compete to be at the top of world standings.

Bengaluru Open's Heritage and Contribution to Indian Tennis

The Bengaluru Open has, in the past decade, been a pillar of maintaining tennis in India by providing a platform for young and old-pros to introduce themselves to their countrymen.

Indian professional tennis players have played exceptionally well at the tournament in the past, with Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Sumit Nagal taking the singles title in 2018 and 2017, respectively. Italian Stefano Napolitano won the title here twelve months ago, defeating Nagal in a thrilling final that consolidated the tournament's reputation for holding high-class games. The rising profile of the event is highlighted by the upgrading to Challenger 125 level, which has seen its draw progressively become stronger on an annual basis. Absent in 2016, 2019, and 2021, the tournament is therefore more special here, symbolizing grit and the consistently sustained popularity of the tournament.

The Organizers and Officials Demonstrate Thrill

Tournament Director Sunil Yajman welcomed this year's batch of hard-hitting players, "We are excited to have such a competitive team at the Bengaluru Open 2025. With a cutoff ranking so high and a good blend of players, Indian tennis fans are in for a thrilling week. The tournament has helped Indian players in the past, and we hope that they will take full advantage of the chance of competing at the highest level again."

Seconding the same, Mr. Maheshwar Rao IAS, Hon.

Secretary, Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) and Organizing Secretary, Bengaluru Open, emphasized the position of the event in the ATP Challenger Tour. "In the years gone by, the Bengaluru Open has evolved into an international-standard tournament, putting Karnataka on the global tennis map.". This landmark 10th anniversary edition is a reflection of its popularity, and we are thrilled to offer another action-packed tournament that not only enthralls the masses but also greatly adds to the development of tennis in India. The Word Spreads of an action-fraught Edition

With its mythic history, galaxy-list of international superstars, and new high-flying reputation, the 2025 Bengaluru Open is set to be one of the most thrilling in the tournament's history.
