Sanju Samson Restored as Rajasthan Royals Skipper and Wicketkeeper

Sanju Samson has been completely cleared by the Centre of Excellence of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This clearance allows him to resume wicketkeeping along with batting duties again. This further means coming back as captain of Rajasthan Royals for the rest of Indian Premier League season.

Earlier during the tournament, Sanju was not allowed to stand wickets due to surgery on his right index finger. Due to this ban, he was only employed as a batter and was employed as an Impact Player. The Rajasthan Royals administration had provisionally made Riyan Parag the captain. He led the team in the first three games while Dhruv Jurel was in the wicketkeeper's role. Sanju has returned to optimum fitness and will be playing behind the wickets and also captaining the team as usual.

Sanju went to Bengaluru to undergo clearance by the BCCI Sports Science department before returning to continue his entire work. After he played his third match for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings on March 31, he traveled out to Bengaluru for a check-up. The medical team checked his health and provided him a full go-ahead to continue wicket-keeping. He will be playing for the Rajasthan Royals team in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, following this clearance. The team will be playing Punjab Kings on April 5, and Sanju will be captaining the team for this game.

The squad had travelled to Chandigarh from Guwahati on April 2 to prepare for their coming match. One game out of their three games earlier was won by Rajasthan Royals. They sit at ninth on the points table. The points table is led currently by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won both of their matches hitherto.

Sanju's return as captain and wicketkeeper will be an enormous boost for Rajasthan Royals. His experience of guiding the affairs and wicketkeeping ability will strengthen the team. The management and fans will look forward to his return to allow the team to lead its position to the next level in the tournament. With match-fixing games to be played, Rajasthan Royals will look forward to better performance and positive outcomes under Sanju's captaincy.
