Rising Stars-Five Uncapped Players to Watch in IPL 2025
IPL 2025 will feature new talent, as five uncapped players will take the field to make their debuts. They may be the next big names in Indian cricket.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a hotbed of young and uncapped players, offering them the ideal platform to establish themselves as global cricketing talents. Most of today's cricket superstars were once unknowns before becoming household names through their IPL performances. The 2025 season is not an exception, with a new generation of talented players looking to establish themselves and make their mark, possibly securing spots in competitive cricket. Here are five uncapped players who may make the news in IPL 2025.
1. Robin Minz (Mumbai Indians)
Robin Minz's IPL career was temporarily halted last season following a tragic road accident after signing with the Gujarat Titans. But the Mumbai Indians (MI) recognized immense potential in the Jharkhand-based power-hitter and picked him up for Rs 65 lakh, a sum more than double his base price of Rs 30 lakh. Minz, a free-flowing left-handed batter, possesses an aggressive strike rate of 181 in T20 cricket. Though his career is still in its early stages, his ability to accelerate innings and his additional role as a wicketkeeper make him a player to watch. If given opportunities, Minz could prove to be a valuable asset in MI’s batting lineup.
2. Suryansh Shedge (Punjab Kings)
A breakout star in Indian domestic cricket, Suryansh Shedge has already made a name for himself with a stellar performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 final. Coming in at a crucial juncture during Mumbai’s chase of 175 against Madhya Pradesh, Shedge played a match-winning knock of 36* off just 15 balls, smashing three fours and four sixes. In the tournament, he scored 131 runs at a rate of 43.66 and a mind-boggling strike rate of 251.92, besides taking eight wickets. His performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy also show his all-round potential. Bought by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 30 lakh, Shedge can utilize the IPL as a stepping stone to entering the highly competitive Indian team.
3. Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals)
One of the most discussed names in IPL 2025 is Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who caused a stir when Rajasthan Royals (RR) selected him for Rs 1.1 crore during the mega auction. Born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar, Suryavanshi was one of the youngest players to join the IPL with his first-class debut for Bihar coming when he was just 12 years and 284 days old. He sealed his reputation as a brilliant batting prospect with his explosive century against Australia U19 in Chennai last year. Moreover, he was the seventh-highest run-scorer in the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup 2024-25, with 176 runs in five games, of which his highest score was an unbeaten 76*. His pressure-handling skills at such a tender age make him an exciting player to watch in the tournament.
4. C Andre Siddarth (Chennai Super Kings)
A domestically rooted cricketer himself, C Andre Siddarth has already left an impression playing the longer version of the game. A nephew of veteran Tamil Nadu cricketer S Sharath, Siddarth has featured in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) but has not made his official T20 debut yet. But his exploits in the Ranji Trophy are a testament to his ability. The 18-year-old batsman scored 612 runs for Tamil Nadu in 12 games, with a batting average of 68.00 and a century and five half-centuries. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) realized his potential and signed him for their team. His skills at anchoring the innings and playing under pressure will be tested when he makes the switch to T20 cricket.
5. Bevon Jacobs (Mumbai Indians)
The lone international player on this roll call, Bevon Jacobs is from Pretoria and has played for New Zealand domestic franchises Auckland and Canterbury. Though he had played only six T20 matches when selected to the IPL, his breathtaking strike rate of 189 impressed Mumbai Indians, who signed him up for Rs 20 lakh. Jacobs has gone on to play 20 T20 games, making 423 runs in 17 innings at 32.53 average and a strike rate of over 148. His hard-hitting batting style, supplemented by two half-centuries and a top score of 90*, can be a game-changer for MI this season.
Final Thoughts
The IPL has always been a platform for discovery for talented cricketers, and IPL 2025 is no different. These players such as Minz, Shedge, Suryavanshi, Siddarth, and Jacobs have a combination of power-hitting, technical ability, and all-rounder's skills that can provide depth to their respective teams. Whether they become stars or struggle with the demands of international cricket, their IPL journey will be one worth watching. With the season running its course, these uncapped players could potentially be the future of Indian and international cricket.
