RCB Pacer Yash Dayal Barred From UP T20 League After Legal Issues
RCB pace bowler Yash Dayal has been suspended from the UP T20 League 2025 after a legal dispute over alleged sexual exploitation. Gorakhpur Lions team player Yash Dayal is also facing serious allegations and continuing court trials that have hampered his cricketing career.

Yash Dayal has been in the news of late not for his performance on the field but due to a serious legal issue that has begun to impact his cricketing career. The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has banned him from playing in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League following legal action against him. Dayal, a pacer for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL, was purchased by the Gorakhpur Lions for seven lakh rupees in this year's UP T20 League auction. However, things took a turn after a Ghaziabad woman accused him of rape and an FIR was filed against him on July 6 this year.
The case has drawn widespread attention and is now tainting his cricket career. As per reports the initial FIR was filed at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita that concerns sexual intercourse by the use of fraudulent means. The complaint states that Yash Dayal was in touch with the woman for nearly five years and had agreed to marry her but never had any plans to do so. She alleged that after frequent marriage talks Dayal would keep postponing and then she realized he was also dating other ladies.
Yash Dayal in his petition had countered that an offence under Section 69 of BNS can be invoked only if it is established that the person had promised marriage without actually having any intention of fulfilling the promise. He has pleaded for a stay of his arrest and also asked the FIR to be quashed. Dayal's legal team argues that the allegations are baseless and he must be permitted to pursue his cricket career while the case is in court.
Though the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association is reported to have made the decision to exclude him from the league due to the on-going case the owner of Gorakhpur Lions Vishesh Gaur has confirmed that his team has not received any formal notification from the UPCA regarding the ban. This has created some uncertainty regarding his precise playing status within the tournament. Nonetheless reports suggest that he is not expected to participate while the legal process continues.
Dayal's case has become a subject of much discussion in cricket as well as legal circles. As a professional cricketer he was training for the season of UP T20 League looking to perform impressively for Gorakhpur Lions but the legal case compelled him to put cricketing on the backburner. The case not only raised doubts about his career, but also how controversies related to laws affect sportsmen and their professional lives.
Complainant's affidavit states that she had been acquainted with Dayal for a few years and relied upon his assurance of marriage. He kept postponing the date farther and farther away, in accordance with her statement, until she came to know about his affair with other women. She alleges that she suffered emotional pain as a result of this and that she was duped during the entire relationship. These charges formed the foundation of the police registering the FIR under the BNS provisions.
For Yash Dayal, the issue is not merely a legal one but also a challenge to his public persona. His name had become identified with potential bowling performances and contributions to his sides in domestic cricket as well as the IPL. Now it is becoming linked with a controversy that might define his future in the sport. His fans think he must be given an opportunity to prove himself in the court of law before subjected to career-changing decisions and others think that until the matter is settled it is advisable for cricket authorities to tread cautiously.
The UP T20 League serves as a crucial forum for players to perform and get a chance to play at a higher level. Missing out on this league for Dayal is a setback given that he was going to play a major role for Gorakhpur Lions during this season. The suspension also conveys the message that cricket bodies will take stern action when cricketers are embroiled in pending criminal cases even if they possess on-field brilliance.
Only time will tell how the case turns out in the next few months and if Yash Dayal will be cleared to resume competitive cricket. Till then the allegations and court proceedings have put a cloud over what was the promise of an exciting season for him. The episode underscores the increasing scrutiny faced by professional sportspeople and the necessity to uphold both legal and personal behavior to ensure the integrity of one's profession.
So far Yash Dayal is continuing to battle the charges in court while awaiting word about his future playing cricket from his fans and his teammates. The Gorakhpur Lions have yet to officially declare a replacement for him and the UPCA has yet to release a formal statement on the subject. The uncertainty puts his career in limbo and is a reminder of how fast things can turn around in the professional sports world when there are issues with the law.
