Mayank Yadav Close to Return as LSG Coach Gives Optimistic Update
LSG coach gave a positive report on Mayank Yadav's comeback, indicating that the pace bowler is nearing return in IPL 2025.

The Lucknow Super Giants are beginning to seem stronger by the day as their injured bowlers start coming back one after another. One of the most speculated names is Mayank Yadav who was missing in action because of back injury and a toe injury. However, according to head coach Justin Langer there is some good news. He informed that Mayank Yadav is bowling now at 90 to 95 percent and is practicing at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The coach informed that he had watched a video of Mayank bowling recently and he was good. Langer added that this is thrilling not only for LSG but for Indian cricket and the IPL.
Mayank impressed everyone in the team last season and everyone was eager to see him again. According to Langer, no one has bowled as fast as Mayank Yadav in India and because of that, he is the talk of the town. Though there isn't an official date for his comeback the news from the coach revealed that he may return soon. The NCA is doing all they can to get him back and their efforts are paying off. They already managed to get Avesh Khan and Akash Deep back to the team and now everyone expects Mayank to follow suit.
During a recent game against Mumbai Indians the Lucknow Super Giants won with a big margin despite their bowling unit not being at full capacity. Justin Langer complimented the players' effort and said the bowling unit is only becoming stronger with each match. Mayank Yadav was supposed to come back sooner but he hurt his toe while stubbing it against his bed. That resulted in an infection and pushed his return back by one or two weeks.
Even then the team is coping. They included Shardul Thakur following the injury of Mohsin Khan. Thakur has performed nicely for the team. He has picked seven wickets in four matches only and bowled a crucial over in the match between Mumbai Indians and LSG. During that match MI required 29 runs in 12 balls and Thakur conceded only seven runs in the 19th over. That turned the game and it was because of him that LSG won.
The unit has also brought back Akash Deep and Avesh Khan. Akash Deep made his return from injury in his first game and bowled four overs. He conceded 46 runs and picked one wicket. Avesh Khan has appeared in three matches so far but has only claimed two wickets and has been costly. Although they are not yet back in form the fact that these bowlers are now available means that the unit has more options.
Justin Langer mentioned that the team is extremely grateful to the staff at the NCA for rehabilitating the players. The effort that they are putting in behind the scenes is keeping LSG in the hunt in the IPL 2025. Currently they are optimistic that Mayank Yadav also will get the green light to play soon. If he comes back and bowls like he was doing last year it will be a huge lift for Lucknow Super Giants.
The journey has not been smooth for LSG this season. At the beginning of the season they had Mohsin Khan Mayank Yadav Avesh Khan and Akash Deep missing. That left the bowling attack in shambles and full of doubts. But now the pieces are slowly falling into place. Each game brings more hope. Mayank Yadav is a quick bowler and if he can come back to full fitness he can be the difference-maker for LSG to go deep into the tournament.
Without all their best bowlers LSG have managed to win. That indicates the depth of the team and the intelligent decision-making of the coaching staff. But with Mayank Yadav nearing full fitness the team will have an added dimension. His tempo his hunger and his desire to play again will bring the team along. Mayank Yadav has already displayed what he is capable of doing and now the fans will look to watch him do the same again.
The expectation is that in the next couple of matches Mayank will be fit to play again. Until then LSG will keep battling with the bowlers they have and hope that their hard work bears fruit. The season is long enough and the comeback of Mayank Yadav may prove to be the turning point for Lucknow Super Giants.
