Abhishek Nayar Breaks Silence Following BCCI Departure and KKR Return
Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar finally speaks out after his BCCI departure and hasty return to Kolkata Knight Riders. He refers to KKR as his family and also becomes a new mentor to UP Warriorz in the WPL.

Abhishek Nayar has recently spoken out on making his comeback to the Kolkata Knight Riders following his removal from his position as assistant coach of the Indian national cricket team by the BCCI. His departure surprised many as he had been appreciated by leading players such as KL Rahul, who attributed Nayar as the reason for his development as a white-ball batter. Although the sacking was not officially confirmed at this stage, it had already been reported that Nayar was back in the KKR camp which indicates how warmly he was welcomed back to the IPL franchise fold.
Although the BCCI had let him go in April Nayar didn't take long to get back on his feet in the world of cricket. His return to KKR was natural and easy for him and he referred to the franchise as something beyond a team. He referred to it as his family and pointed out that the pace at which he returned indicates how much he belongs there. He never ever hesitated once he had the opportunity to be with KKR again because he has never been one to see any moment in his cricketing life as anything else but an opportunity and this too did not feel different to him. His close attachment to the franchise made the comeback all the more special.
Nayar's departure from the Indian coaching panel occurred quietly but did not impact his love for the game or his motivation to remain engaged in cricket. Rather, he utilized it as an opportunity to look towards the future. He talked with enthusiasm about the switch and said that returning to KKR was not merely a return to work but a return to where he feels most valued and connected. To him, the IPL franchise is a team that trusts and supports him and that's why he did not hesitate to make the switch.
With his comeback to KKR Nayar has also resumed another significant assignment. He is currently acting as a mentor for the Women's Premier League team UP Warriorz. This is indicative of his increasing passion for assisting the upcoming generation of cricketers not only in the men's game but also in women's cricket. He is looking forward to the way women's cricket is developing in India and is convinced that the WPL will have a big say in how its future takes shape. He wishes to instill a winning attitude in the players and nurture a culture where trophy-hunting is considered the top priority.
Nayar noted that women's cricket in India is on the rise very quickly. He explained that in the initial WPL trials most of the players were more concerned about timing and touch but now there is a perceivable change. The players are more powerful, faster and stronger on the field. They are jumping more the throws are quicker and sharper and the game as a whole has improved dramatically. This development as per Nayar is only set to go on and he is proud to be a part of the process.
With involvement in both KKR and UP Warriorz, Nayar has a rare opportunity to contribute meaningfully in various formats and levels of the game. He comes with the experience of playing and coaching at a top level and knows what is needed to get the best out of players. His passion for the sport does not fade even after the BCCI debacle and he is determined to extract the maximum from his present assignments.
Nayar's journey demonstrates how a setback in one's profession need not be the end. His comeback to KKR and new avatar in the WPL are testimony to how if a person belongs in a place and gives it his all, opportunities will never elude him. He is now planning to move forward to assist teams develop become more robust grow a stronger culture and strive for long-term success whether within the IPL or the Women's Premier League.
Although his stint with the Indian team ended early Nayar is not resentful. Rather he is opting to concentrate on where he can be of maximum use and where he is valued. His experience is a reminder that cricket is not just about playing or coaching at the top level but also about developing good relationships growing together and remaining associated with the sport you love.
With his can-do attitude in-depth knowledge and love for cricket Nayar will be making a significant contribution to both KKR and UP Warriorz. Fans and players have had trust in him and now he is all set to repay the same in large measures again with hard work and dedication. His journey is not complete yet and if anything this new phase may prove to be all the more significant than the previous one.
As Nayar assumes these significant roles he is determined to establish a future in which players are driven by passion discipline and the urge to win. Whether it is in the WPL or the IPL he desires to establish a situation where everyone pulls together with one ambition on their minds which is to take trophies back home and pride for their team. His return is not merely about coaching once more but about introducing a strong mentality into the dressing rooms he enters.
