14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Makes IPL History with Century-Breaking Record
Only at the age of 14 years, Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke an IPL record as he became the youngest cricketer to achieve a century in T20 cricket. His fantastic 35-ball century won the match for Rajasthan Royals.

During an eventful moment during the 2025 Indian Premier League season, a young boy called Vaibhav Suryavanshi stunned cricket followers across the globe. Being just 14 years and 32 days young he became the youngest player to date to hit a century in a T20 match. For Rajasthan Royals Vaibhav hit 101 runs from only 38 balls in an awesome innings which is already being termed as one of the best IPL innings. This young man not only made records but was also instrumental in his team's astonishing chase against Gujarat Titans at Jaipur.
Vaibhav's hundred arrived in 35 balls which is the second quickest hundred in IPL history. The only quicker century is held by Chris Gayle who scored a 30-ball century in 2013. Vaibhav also eclipsed the all-time record held by Yusuf Pathan who had previously held the record for the quickest hundred by an Indian by scoring a 37-ball innings in 2010. That makes Vaibhav the current record holder for the quickest IPL century by an Indian. He also became the youngest player in T20 cricket history to score a century breaking the previous record held by Vijay Zol at the age of 18. This is also the youngest century in any professional limited-overs cricket match making it a very special feat.
Vaibhav took only three innings in the IPL to score his first hundred. That makes him the quickest Indian to score an IPL century. Others such as Manish Pandey and Paul Valthaty took four games to achieve it but Vaibhav achieved it even faster. Apart from that he also scored his first fifty in just 17 balls which is the quickest maiden fifty by an uncapped Indian player in IPL history. He broke the record of Yashasvi Jaiswal who had scored his first fifty in 19 balls in 2021.
In his explosive batting Vaibhav struck 11 sixes which is the second-most by any Indian batsman in an IPL match. The only other Indian batsman to achieve this was Murali Vijay who struck 11 sixes in a match way back in 2010. Vaibhav's boundary-striking was absolutely next level. From his 101 runs a massive 94 were from boundaries alone. He scored 7 fours and 11 sixes which amounts to more than 93 percent of his runs coming from strong shots to the fence. None of the other IPL centurions has ever achieved such a percentage of runs through boundaries. The earlier record was by Jaiswal who hit 90 percent of his runs as boundaries in a match against Mumbai Indians in 2023.
The stand between Vaibhav and Yashasvi Jaiswal was another record instance. The two contributed 166 runs for the opening wicket which stands as the top partnership for any wicket in the history of Rajasthan Royals. They shattered the previous record of Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal who had a 155-run partnership in 2022. Due to this stand Rajasthan Royals easily chased a massive target. They won the game with 25 balls remaining which is the biggest margin of victory in a successful 200+ run chase in IPL history. This victory also proved to be Rajasthan's fourth-highest successful run chase and the best ever run chase by Rajasthan against Gujarat Titans.
Vaibhav's batting even created some records unexpectedly. In the first over itself of the game Gujarat Titans' bowler Karim Janat conceded 30 runs which has now become the most costly first over in the history of the IPL. That record was previously held by Varun Chakravarthy who had leaked 25 runs in his opening over for Punjab Kings in 2019. Rajasthan's 87-run total without losing a wicket in the PowerPlay was their best ever in IPL eclipsing their 85-run beginning against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023.
Seeing this kid boy play with such confidence and strength left people in wonder. Vaibhav returned to the dugout to a standing ovation from all the fans in the stadium. It was an Indian cricket moment to be proud of as this young 14-year-old made his entry into the IPL record books in style. His name is now listed alongside some of the biggest names in T20 cricket. Henceforth, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be referred to as the youngest and quickest Indian centurion of the IPL and this is just the beginning of his quest.
