Arshdeep Singh Finds Rhythm in Kent Before England Test Series
Arshdeep Singh has finally rediscovered his bowling rhythm with Kent, delivering stellar spells ahead of India’s Test series against England so as to remain in contention for a national call-up.

Indian left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is happy to be returning to Kent where he had played county cricket earlier. He is getting ready for the impending five-match Test series against England that will begin on June 20. He is a part of the Indian Test team for the first time and will look to make his red-ball cricket debut. Arshdeep is concentrating on getting his bowling rhythm correct and having fun in the serene environment of Kent. The comeback is special to him as he had previously played here in the County Championship and made some special memories. It feels like homecoming to him and the peaceful weather and straightforward life in Kent make him feel comfortable while working hard.
India will play a four-day practice match against India A at Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham from June 13. Arshdeep and the rest will get used to the red-ball cricket after playing an extended sequence of white-ball cricket. Arshdeep had a decent season with Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 when his side finished as runner-up. But now his attention is entirely on the red ball and developing strength and control. During a recent practice Arshdeep explained that he wanted to understand how the red ball was releasing from his hand and how his body was reacting to the change in format. He clarified that as majority of the players have been playing white-ball cricket recently it is essential to gradually increase the intensity with the practice of red-ball and challenge themselves incrementally.
During training Arshdeep took pleasure in bowling against his own teammates and shared how competitive the batters were even at the practice session of maintaining rhythm. He mentioned that even though they were improving their fundamentals the batters were concentrating and trying their best which made the session enjoyable and tough. It is these types of sessions that refines skills and enhances performance in his opinion. He particularly observed how neat Sai Sudharsan appeared and complimented the skipper Shubman Gill for being in good nick with the bat. Arshdeep expressed that he is encouraged to play better and look to annoy the batters more frequently in the coming days.
The Indian team, with senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired, now has a new look under Shubman Gill's leadership. Fresh talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan provide eagerness and talent to the team. Arshdeep regards this as a wonderful chance to develop with a new squad and be a part of its success. He is putting in effort to settle into the English conditions and perform his best when the Test series commences. Practicing with quality players keeps him focused and self-assured. He is particularly fond of Jasprit Bumrah and considers himself lucky to be in the same bowling unit. Arshdeep mentioned that when you have a player like Bumrah in your team there is no need to compare. He feels that every bowler has a different role to play and instead of comparing, the focus should be on complementing each other and making the team stronger as a whole.
Arshdeep is extremely humble in his demeanour and knows the value of team spirit. He said that having the red ball makes him feel confident and self-assured in his own skills. Yet on another hand he realizes that cricket is a team game and the idea is to learn and develop with your fellow members. He has respect for Bumrah because of his skill and experience and wishes to make the most out of this opportunity to train alongside one of the world's best pacers. Learning from veteran players and exchanging knowledge Arshdeep hopes to improve his own performance and assist India in achieving success in challenging overseas conditions.
His affection for Kent extends way beyond cricket. He explained how much he loves the peaceful and serene environment that makes it such a wonderful spot to relax and get peace of mind. He told us about the refreshing breeze the warm softness of the sun and the bliss of drinking hot chocolate in such a serene environment. Arshdeep even suggested having churros for dessert for those who like something sweet and said that they pair wonderfully with a warm beverage on a tranquil day. These small moments of pleasure aid him in relaxing and rejuvenating while remaining alert on his objectives.
Arshdeep's previous stint in county cricket provided him with a rich experience of English conditions which he hopes to derive dividends from during the Test series. Playing for Kent taught him how to bowl under various pitches and how to survive long spells with the red ball. These lessons are valuable now as he gets set for one of the most significant opportunities of his life. He wants to leave a big mark and prove that he can be a major member of India's red-ball future.
With the Test series against England approaching Arshdeep continues to be calm and composed. His aim is to continue enhancing his rhythm his craft and his mental toughness. He wishes to give his best for the team and cherish each second on and off the pitch. Being back in Kent is not merely for cricket for him. It is about rediscovering himself as a cricketer and as an individual. With the first Test starting in Leeds on June 20 Arshdeep is all set to rise to the challenge and seize the opportunity of this significant chapter in his cricketing life.
